The new primary STEAM curriculum (launched September 2025) emphasizes hands-on, inquiry-based learning, integrating Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. It features six core strands, including nature of STEM, living things, materials, energy/forces, technology, and engineering, focusing on real-world problem-solving, design, and computational thinking.    Key Features of the New Curriculum
  • Active Learning: Focuses on exploration, play, and inquiry-based, child-led learning.
  • Integration: Combines STEM disciplines with Arts (music, drama, visual arts) to encourage creative, cross-disciplinary skills.
  • Core Strands: The curriculum is organized around key areas such as Materials, Energy & Forces, Technology, and Engineering.
  • Skills Development: Emphasizes critical thinking, design skills, coding, and digital literacy to prepare students for a changing world.
  • Real-World Application: Encourages solving practical problems, often with a focus on sustainability and environmental awareness.
Goals
  • Strengthened Literacy: Builds foundational skills in STEM from an early age.
  • Engagement: Increases student engagement through fun, interactive projects.
  • Creativity: Integrates arts to promote innovative thinking and new perspectives.
This approach aims to develop both technical skills and creative abilities, allowing pupils to connect their learning across disciplines.
