Aistear in Infants

10th Feb 2019

Junior and Senior Infants have great fun learning through play during Aistear each day. Aistear is the childhood curriculum framework for all children from birth to six years in Ireland. As early childhood marks the beginning of children's lifelong learning journeys, this framework is called Aistear, the Irish word for journey. The Framework uses four interconnected themes to describe the content of children's learning and development: Well-being, Identity and Belonging, Communicating, and Exploring and Thinking.

The aim of Aistear is to help every child to grow and develop as a competent and confident learner. Ultimately, according to Aistear, early childhood care and education must support a child's sense of well-being.

Aistear tells us that engaging in play is good for children's health and well-being. It is a way of creating community so that children develop a sense of identity and belonging. It is a way of communicating and exploring and thinking. Have a look at our video!
